In this article we will refer to the interventions that we need to carry out through the olive leaves depending on the result we want to achieve in our final product. This article presents the results of seven years of research by our chemist based on feedback from our customers in relation to the fertilizations and the results of analyses of olive leaves and their final products.

The research is currently being published in a scientific journal and aims to provide a specialized solution to olive growers.

Goal 1: Increase resistance, energy production and fruit set: To achieve this specific goal, we must have consistently high levels of chlorophyll in the olive leaves. Chlorophyll is responsible for the green color of the leaves. To achieve this, urea must be given in three doses during the flowering stage, fruit set and until mid-July. It is also necessary to supplement with potassium, phosphorus, iron and boron in three doses from the fruit set stage up to 60 days later (approximately every 20 days).

Objective 2: Increase in phenolic compounds (tyrosol, hydroxytyrosol and derivatives) for health claims: This specific objective is one of the most difficult. Foliar supplementation with phosphorus, calcium, iron and zinc is required from the moment of fruit growth until 3 weeks before harvest in 3 doses. This specific objective is achieved even more easily in the case of a Koroneiki variety or a manaki.

Objective 3: Increase in oil content:  To achieve this, urea must be given in three doses during the flowering, fruit set and mid-July stages. Also, foliar application of boron, manganese, iron and sulfur is required during flowering in two doses and with a difference of additions of up to 10 days. Finally, foliar reinforcement with calcium and potassium is required in two doses during the increase in fruit size and up to 4 weeks before harvesting.
